In paper art, Anna Chiara Valentini gets to indulge in two of her greatest passions: architecture and art. The Italian artist brings back the traditional meaning of “cut and paste” via her art, creating organic forms and figures with her hands and a tube of glue. This time-consuming craft results in colourful pictures and typography in 3D, which she fills with swirling strips of paper that are impressive in its details. Speaking of her work, she says “It’s a process that takes a long time, and I learned to think with my hands”. By following what she calls the three P’s — Patience, Precision and Persistence — she finds a balance between paper and glue that makes the laborious process worth it.

Trained in Rome and Paris as an architect and artist, she currently lives and works in Italy. Follow her on Instagram.
