Until January the 19th will be exhibited at Museum of Fine Arts, Nantes, the installation called The Waves of Thierry Kuntzel. It’s been since 2002 that this interactive video is questioning the bond between spectator and artwork. It has the faculty to mutate, depending on the distance to the spectator, and its speed.
As the spectator, hypnotized by the smooth breathing of the waves, steps forward to get closer and enter the intimacy of the artwork, the images start slowing down, the images blurs into black and white, until it gets fixed and monochrome. The Waves isa living artwork that tells its own rythm.
