Art goes beyond paint and canvas in the work of Dimitris Ladopoulos, a motion graphics and visual designer based in Athens. Using Houdini, a 3D animation program, he breaks down the different shades of colour in various artworks using algorithms, giving us a digital version of how these classical paintings would look today. Below are examples of his digital experiments on Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn’s Portrait of Johannes Wtenbogaert, and a painting of Rembrandt Peale. Follow him on Instagram.
