For the European Days of Art ProfessionsSociété Générale launches the exhibition #LaMêmePassion, the first conceived entirely by taking inspiration by tweets. The event is organized in collaboration with the Best French Artisans, a partenaire since 13 years. This exhibition will present artisanal artwork fruit of a very special collaboration between one of the Best French Artisans and a young apprentice, having expressed his passion and desire of learning by using Twitter.

To bring this project to life, Société Générale encouraged the keen on young artisans community to express this passion on Twitter. It then selected seven apprentices who have been each one associated to a master of a specific discipline. The duo had as a mission to transform the tweet in artwork experimenting a traditional technique.

Artworks will then be exhibited in a symbolic place, representing the excellence of made in France, the Bastille Design Center a 19 century manufacture.

Thanks to dialogue between these two generations, millenials developed their desire to live in a more concrete world, where human relationships are not only virtuality and theory, is inspired from reality. Apprentices are an exemple of digital natives expressing themselves on Twitter and realizing their dreams into an artisan’s atelier.

I’m passioned by wood, to create an artwork starting from a tree is the best thing ever ! #LaMemePassion

Pascal Arlot dreamed to be a wood sculptor since his childhood. After a two years professional training, he started a four years tour across France and he then opened his own activity. His art plays with traditional rules and changes them, by introducing new technologies. Elected Best French Artisan in 2002, at the age of 39 years old, he continues to look for excellence. Today, his own company is based in the Val d’Oise, offers the creation of unique pieces adapted to each demand. Very sensible to the notion of transmission, he also gives some private courses.

With his apprentice Dorian, 19 years old, from Montpellier, he worked on very contemporary typographies in order to decorate a beautiful wood panel, displaying Dorian’s tweet. During the exhibition, a video will be projected on the panel, 2 meters high and 1,24 meters large.

To make this great project real, Société Générale collaborated with FRED & FARID Paris and chosen as a exhibition’s special guest the famous chocolatier, elected Best Frech Artisan, Georges Larnicol. His peerless quality products are available in 23 boutiques in France, and 3 specifically in Paris.

This ambitious project is based on knowledge from different institutions, a project that creates bridges between passed and present, a link between tradition and modernity. The real strength of this initiative is to reconcile two apparently very distant worlds : artisanat and digital technologies.
