Monica Dixon is a painter based in New Jersey. In her work, she is particularly interested the minimal figurative references to create sensations. She is in constant search for the light, a dialogue between artificial and natural. She dispossesses the pictorial space of all that she perceived as anecdotic, superficial. She explains: “Characters and objects disturbed me ; they distracted me from what I really wanted to see: the space painted in its own, the vibration of light in the atmosphere, the essential solitude of the scene.” For the artist, the empty space is like a presence.
