The Australian self-taught photographer Bill Gekas, Melbourne-based, realizes revisit of classics paintings, by photographing his 5-year-old girl, who’s posing to mime alternately works of Rembrandt, Raphael, Caravaggio, Velazquez or Vermeer. Bill Gekas explains that a single picture requires approximately 8 hours, because a big preparation is made before ; “The key to executing a shoot like this is to have it all planned before the subject enters the scene, the lighting, props, composition etc”. You almost forget it’s not an authentic illustration you’re looking at !
