Jakub Geltner, based in Prague, is one of the artists who have been featured during the event “Sculpture by the Sea”, in Danemark, Aarhus. This Czech artist is known for his “nests” installations of security cameras and satellites dishes in nature and public buildings’ facades. For this annual edition of the festival, he has decided to place dozen of cameras on ocean rocks with a troubled water.
He wanted to subvert the feeling of security with voyeurism where the visitors of this beach would feel observed in a place of solitude and retreat. He gives his own interpretation of what is an “artificially infested” environment by technological equipments that sature our vital space and represent a hurt for our nature, society and private life, instead of being a help.
