For most of us, the transition of summer to autumn/fall is a meteorological one that we adapt to fairly quickly. In seaside towns, however, the changing of the seasons is far more palpable. The sea darkens, the wind picks up, the beaches empty, certain jobs become unnecessary and towns lose a large portion of their population for another 9 months. It’s a fascinating, and at times disconcerting, change to witness.
