Jim collaborated with retoucher Tim Ashton on the three-year project giving readers a glimpse into the world of the UK’s 20,000-odd re-enactors, who meet regularly in fields and woods to replay battle events.Inspired by “In the American West”, Jim launched into the centre of the action, soldiers, children, nazi youth and tanks, and some of the worst rain of the year. The result is an impressive collection of deeply complex characters, equipment and scenes, our very own Tim had the pleasure of stringing together. “The imagery is just stunning”, Tim tells us, “ and we are very happy with the result. It’s always a pleasure to work with Jim, and being part of such a large and impressive project is just great.”
