Berlin – During the night between saturday 1st and sunday 2nd May the Be Yourself Movement (BYM) accomplished its fourth mission (after Milan and Rome) completely transforming the advertising billboards’ meaning along Postdamer Strasse, Kreuzberg Strasse, York Strasse, Rosenthaler Strasse and Hackesher Markt, modified through a defacement operation.
Wielding spray cans, paper, glue and cutter, some italian BYM’s member spent an inspiring weekend in Berlin in order to fight with an healthy dose of creativity and self-esteem against the visual establishment, which continuously asks us to be someone or something different from what we really are: ourselves. On the BYM website it’s now available the movement manifesto, international actions’ pics, files to download, print, cut out and use in order to “creatively claim our right not to be standardised”. Everyone is invited to join the community on BYM’s website or on its Fanpage .
Here is the first action video in into Milan’s subway.
Each angle of our towns has something to tell us: it tries to persuade us screaming from the top of its 6X3 mt what is cool or to impose repeating from a 70X100 army what we should own to be socially accepted.(From the Be Yourself Movement’s Manifesto)
