I loved the scratchy, fuzzy quality and rough edges of films at the cinema in the pre-digital era  – the exact aspects that digital film corrects and eradicates.

I don’t like to use Photoshop or any other such program as I prefer this rough and primitive appearance.

To achieve this I enlarge photocopies of photos I take and increase the dark tone on the copier to make the light areas darker and the dark areas completely black. I then use chalk to provide some colour.
