Smart, the packaging specialist CD CARTONDRUCK AG and the Berlin-based artist Sarah Illenberger unveiled the first smart fortwo to have its interior and exterior components designed and produced in high-quality recyclable cardboard.
For the exterior of the CARTONDRUCK smart, Sarah Illenberger used a camouflage-like natural pattern called ECO-FLAGE.
In a multi-layer process more than 7.500 boxes of various sizes and colour were applied to the to the smart’s outer skin. The design is reminiscent of the pattern of a bush’s foliage, and so emphasizes the sustainability of both the material and the smart itself.
