Why the dwarfs? Because the dwarf is a subject that inspires playfullness without being entirely child-oriented. The Dwarf is the smaller (not younger) cousin of the most important mythological creatures. He is at the frontier between what is real and mythological. Therefore, he constitutes a bridge to another, hidden, universe.

The rare appearance of the dwarf in traditional paintings was also a reason for me choosing this theme.

Why polistirene layers?

The main focus for this project was to liberate the image from its two dimensions and to give it the depth and extrude of a sculpture. This concept could only materialize in a light and docile material such as polistirene. It offers tremendous volume and rigidity while at the same time being of little weight.

Is this art meant for interior decoration?

A primary purpose of these works was to bring joy to the eye. There is a strong visual and eye-catching logic behind all the narrative of these dwarfs. They’re supposed to bring joy into any living room or office space.
