The Underwater Photographer of the Year est un concours basé au Royaume-Uni, qui célèbre et met en lumière la photographie sous-marine. Les gagnants de 2019 nous proposent de voir des merveilles dans différentes catégories (12 principales et 2 additionelles), telles que: grand angle, macro, épaves, comportement, portrait, noir et blanc… Le jury était composé des juges de renommée internationale Alex Mustard, Peter Rowlands et Martin Edge. Richard Barnden, du Royaume-Uni, a été, lui, nommé photographe sous-marin de l’année 2019 ainsi que photographe britannique sous-marin de l’année 2019 avec son image captivante intitulée «The Gauntlet». Le Coréen Taeyup Kim, l’Espagnol Eduardo Acevedo, l’Anglais Malcolm Nimmo et l’Allemand Tobias Friedrich sont également lauréats de l’année.
