How do they manage the matrix style shoot in the backcountry ?
It’s most likely 3d camera mapping done in post, as I hardly see how they could set up a matrix shot in deep powder..

the matrix shoot is a simple but expensive effect. you just put some like 20 or 25 identical cameras in a quarter of a cicrle around some you wanna shoot. ( or half or circle or whatever )
and all the devices have to shoot the same picture at the same time. If it’s done properly, you have a circular view of your boarder, you just have to edit a film with it. Got it ?
