3D Paintings on Glass

L’artiste chinois Xia Xiaowan et David Spriggs ont transformé ces tableaux en sculptures 3D grâce à de multiples couches de verre teinté et des crayons colorés. Des versions qui varie selon l’axe de perspective du panneau de verre : ses peintures apparaissent de manière holographique.

De la parallax simple mais je n’y ai pas pensé sous cette forme, bien vu.
La voie lactée et l’astre doivent avoir un rendu vraiment sympa sous tout les angles.
il y aurais même moyen de donner une impression 3D 360° si on croise ce principe sur les 3 axes … mais autant faire de la sculpture.

Quelle dommage de le voir sur des images statiques. Il manque une vidéo ou un ptit module interactif à la Quicktime AV pour pouvoir changer d’angle.

Many people on the planet can have the same idea on a certain timeline. The difference is that some people have the capacity to do it for many reasons : access to materials, money, guts, state of mind… It’s not necessarily plagiarism but just a “common idea” floating in some people’s mind. Nowadays people want to be the first to do something super original and urge to own it like the most precious thing on earth.

What I’m saying here is that a technique remain a technique and the way you project your ideas through it stay personal and original. The two artists work differently, use different materials etc…

Me, I use acrylic (plexiglass) and vinyl to do my 3D art piece. I didn’t know Xian Xiaowan before yesterday. I didn’t know David Spriggs’s works either for many years and I was doing 3D pieces too. We don’t invent things or techniques, we just reorganise them differently.

Just wanted to let you know that you are showing two different artists, the figurative works may be by Xiao Xiaowan. Whereas the ones of the starburst pattern and cloud formations are actually by a Montreal based artist, named David Spriggs.

Fair enough, you make some valid points. The concept of originality and ownership is a continual and open discussion within the arts and encompasses several valid and sometimes opposing views. The issue that bothered me most was lack of proper credit for the work, but I realize mistakes do happen, and the issue was promptly addressed.

…de manière ”anamorphique” et non pas holographique… techniquement rien à voir avec l’holographie et tout à voir avec l’anamorphose… désolé de préciser. Ceci dit j’aime beaucoup…

ps. par pitier, changez les tags pour les noms d’artistes appropriés comme le dit Kairo dans ses commentaires…. si j’étais un des deux artistes j’exploserais de rage.

Why have so many sites used the work of David Spriggs and claimed that it is Xia Xiaowan’s. It is all over the Internet. I see comments below each site but some still don’t credit him. Xia is a good artist and doesn’t need any false credits, his work stands on it’s own.
Many have changed to give credit to Spriggs, including this site. Good sites don’t want to take credits away from the creator of the works
I also see words written about some of David’s pieces that have the name changed to Xia’s. Looks fishy to me what do you think.?
I am not in any way discrediting Xia himself.
