« Mary and the Witch’s Flower » est produit pour la première fois par le Studio Ponoc. Loin d’être débutant pour autant, ce studio a été fondé par des anciens membres du Studio Ghibli. D’autant que ce tout nouveau film d’animation est également réalisé par Hiromasa Yonobayashi, à qui l’on doit déjà « Arrietty, le petit monde des chapardeurs » et « Souvenirs de Marnie ».
