A stranger, Andy ,Concordia university
PLEASE View LARGER On Black Justin say about this picture : Benoit Paillé has redefined the meaning of portrait photography. It is raw and unapologetic, just like this photo. Perhaps this stranger, whom Benoit met at Concordia University in Montreal, has a chronic illness that is leeching at him, or maybe not. Nevertheless, Mr. Paillé did not hesitate to confront and befriend Andy for a brief moment in time, and ironically enough, Andy exhibits a hint of a smile. His eyes exude happiness, even though he appears gaunt and sickly: the bags under his eyes, and the skin around his lips tell a different story than the one portrayed in this picture. Perhaps this photo, as sad as it may seem on the surface, is actually Andy telling us that "everything is okay." I think what Benoit Paillé is trying to tell us is "don't to judge a book by its cover."
