denique non omnes eadem mirantur amantique (2)
this one took several late nights. i started with the lady, went on to the two swallows with the banner, then to the roses, vines and then the light behind the lady. the skull was next, which was tricky since i had to know where in the skull a vine was going to warp around. the sword was also tricky that way. ( i dont sketch these out on the cups, so i have to plan out everything in my head.) the book on one end represents knowledge and truth, while the sword on the other suggests physical force, strength. i decided to fill the rest of the space up with clouds, since it doesnt compete too much with the rest of the clutter i have on the cup already. the latin quote on the banner says, " you make your own fortune", while the latin quote on the bottom of the cup means " All men do not admire and love the same things". which i chose because these cups are precious to some, while others struggle to look beyond the fact that it is on a disposable cup.
