soon after my friends who told me "no one will ever buy this crap" realized i was actually able to sell my foam cups, they said, "u should just put a plain cup in a case, and sell that." that sparked this idea of engraving the cups. this is actually alot harder than just drawing right over the cups. because i cant really see what i am doing. i started off using a toothpick, then moved on to a different tool after the toothpick kept puncturing the surface of the cup. the image is somewhat similar to "the great wave": www.flickr.com/photos/13895571@N04/3777591260/ i love the idea that from afar, it still looks like a plain cup, until u look closer, hence the title "its there", on this one other cup: www.flickr.com/photos/13895571@N04/3777663084/in/set-7215... writings on the rim of the cup says, "let me see you make decisions, without your television." a line from "stripped" by depeche mode.
