The salt production process starts off with a controlled release of sea water, which spills into flattened fields. As the water evaporates, salt crystals are left behind and workers pile them into small mounds, before carrying them to nearby sheds.

Kampot province in Cambodia produces salt for the local market – a total of 80,000 tons of salt per year from more then 3 million hectares of land is distributed around the country.
