The Japanese Art of Candy Sculpture

Immersion in a tradition that threatens to disappear slowly.

Great Big Story met Shinri Tezuka, a 27 year-old artist who perpetuates the tradition of the candy sculptors in Japan. On these images, we can have the impression that he is sculpting and modeling glass but it isn’t the case: this craftsman is in fact giving life to candies that represent fishes, dragons and rabbits. Focus on this art that could disappear if the tradition isn’t carried on.
