The history of this disused cement factory, which has become a modern castle, is a dream come true. It was the architect Ricardo Bofill who fell in love with the place in 1973 and bought it for the great project of his life: to make it his home. The place, overgrown with vegetation and made dangerous by the lack of maintenance of the buildings, has been totally reinvented and rehabilitated to become this place where life seems to be good, between post-industrial utopia and architectural jewellery in a setting of greenery. The project, which has been in progress for more than 40 years, is still not completed. Ricardo Bofill‘s project is to bring light into this austere place, while dressing the exterior of the factory with vegetation, when the factory nevertheless damaged the surrounding ecosystem while it was still in operation. The result is at the same time aesthetic, moving and hopeful.
