Based in Amsterdam, in the Netherland, Gésine Hackenberg is an artist working in the field of art jewelry. And the least we could say is that her pieces are original and unexpected. To take a concrete example, she made “ceramic jewelry” – kitchen necklaces made out of old plates. “I use various techniques and materials to explore the conceptual overlap between jewelry and objects of everyday life. I look at how domestic objects relate to the individual and the body. The history of those objects as well as classical topics of art and jewelry history serve as a main source of inspiration, while I always translate those elements to my contemporary context”, she explains on her website.
