In his series “Absence and Collectivity”, visual artist Al Mefer explores the numbness of cities while night falls. Playing with dreamy colors, the photographer establishes analogies between the buildings and the concrete that define urban landscapes, and the plants that inhabit nature.

I looked into the mirror and couldn’t recognize myself. Have the streets ever seemed to you like the weirdest jungle ?” wrote Al Mefer. Through shapes, structures and colors, the artist reveals mysterious and imperturbable landscapes, devoid of any human presence.
