The Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the competition organized by the National History Museum, of London, has unveiled the winning photos of its 2020 edition. Sergey Gorshkov won the grand prize with his picture of the Love tigress clutching a tree between her legs to leave her scent. Roz Kidman Cox, president of the jury, said about the picture: “It’s a scene like no other, a unique glimpse of an intimate moment in the depths of a magical forest”.
The prize for the young photographer went to the promising Liina Heikkinen, who immortalized a fox defending its meal from its siblings: a moment of pathos taken on the spot, rich in expression and scenic tension.
The winners of the 56th edition of the contest as well as another hundred photos will be exhibited starting October 16. The photos were selected from among 49,000 images taken by professional and amateur photographers: once again this year these talented photographers have shown us nature at its most beautiful angle.
