José Manuel Ballester adapts famous paintings to the time of COVID-19.

The Spanish artist transforms famous scenes from the classic paintings of Goya, Picasso or Vermeer by removing the central aspect: the characters. The pandemic has inspired many artists who use art to share their unique perspective on this particular time.

In these works, however, Ballester retains some parts of the paintings such as an unfinished portrait or a blood-covered floor after a battle. An intriguing series that gives an feeling of emptiness and suspended life as we may be experiencing at the moment all over the world.
