If you saw unidentified objects in the Isle of Man landscape, don’t worry, it’s probably an installation by the American photographer Thomas Jackson.

Invited to the Isle of Man to construct works inspired by his landscape, the artist decided to use artificial objects to imitate the self-organizing behavior of groups of animals. Through the “Emergent Behavior” series, he reproduces the effect of large groups of birds, fish or insects with groups of suspended objects.

For a floating effect, the photographer uses an invisible thread to suspend umbrellas, banner plates and other coloured objects in the air. The objects have been dismantled and recycled in a responsible manner with care so as not to cause any damage to the environment.
