Will a new, more sophisticated typography sign the next decade? This is what presaged the American writer and graphic designer Rachel Hawley, who wrote a column in The Outline. According to her, the trend of minimalist fonts, favored on the web and social networks for their readability and the loading of web pages, is running out of steam. And the Didone fonts could take over, to completely shake up the current aesthetic codes. Because the Didones, which appeared at the beginning of the 19th century, are narrow serifs and lines that oscillate between width and fineness. Characterized by their contrast and described as “luxurious” fonts by the writer, the Didones may well experience a new craze.
