“Thinking about what the mermaid should wear I figured that nowadays it would be easier to find a plastic bag in the ocean than the classic seashell bra”. With The Little Trashmaid, the German artist known by the pseudonym s0s2 updates the mermaid’s myth taking into account current environmental issues, including pollution of the oceans. Her illustrations depict a mermaid in an environment saturated with waste : plastic bags and bottles, cans, food packaging, scrap metal… Her story is less romantic than The Little Mermaid by Walt Disney, but unfortunately more realistic.
