Photographer May Parlar uses open spaces — usually natural environments with vibrant subjects such as colorful rain boots, helium balloons, or other objects separated from the environment the audience is used to seeing them in to highlight them as isolated subject.

Parlar hopes to “explore the human condition through a feminist perspective.” She has a unique way of setting up her work. Instead of changing the environment, she would rather set up a composition inside the given environment. “I work across different mediums such as photography, film, performance art, sculpture, installation, and landscape art; and all of which gets merged in the end and put together with a glue that for me is the camera”.
Though she is based in Berlin, she calls herself a global nomad.
