Coloured, invasive, sticky … With his little monsters, Andrew Rae sees the smartphone as a portal between the virtual and the real world, from which unknowns forms of life escape. To achieve his series “Phone Buddies”, the London-based illustrator associated his talent to the one of photographer Ruskin Kyle to fix his creations in the real world. The photographer  immortalized people in London streets who kept their eyes on their smartphone’s screen, before Andrew Rae added his monsters on the images. Pop and coloured, their collaboration invites us to reflect on the link we have with our screens.
