California-based artist Peter Adamyan sought inspiration from exploited land and people in western United States in Maiming the West, a series of portraits where the characters are camouflaged from behind swaths of cloth and other objects. Rich in symbolism, the project explores the sacrifices made by loggers, miners, ranchers or railroad workers throughout post-Civil War America, targeting the wealthy tycoons who profited from their labors. A powerful series that deserves your attention. Visit Adamyan’s website and Instagram for more.
