Based in Denmark, Thomas Dambo builds giants trolls around the world, and hides them in the wilderness and forests. He has done a lot of different projects, although we focus, here on “The 7 Trolls and The Magical Tower”. A series as “a fairytale, told through sculptures and words, hidden in a forest all made of recycled materials”, he says. Their height rages from 7 to 18 meters (23 to 59 feet). The tower is 17 meters (56 feet). These giants are located in a Belgium forest. To make them, it took Thomas Dambo and his “crew” of 15 people around 25 weeks to build. “By doing this, I hope to lure people away from concrete cities and computer screens, into the wild and reconnect them with the natural world”, he explains. All his creations are composed of recycled materials “to show its enormous potential”. Dambo explains that the wood is mainly old shelves from supermarkets, pallets and branches from fallen trees. The inspiration and foundations of this project come from his childhood. Since this time, he has always love to hear different fairytales and folklore stories “and dream myself away into magical worlds filled with dragons and trolls”, he says. As a teenager, he started his own stories as a rapper, touring and creating a universe where he could tell these stories. This project combined all of this.
