Lorenzo Quinn, Italian sculptor, is behind the “Building Bridges” project, a giant sculpture representing pairs of hands joining, during the Venice Art Biennale 2019 that began on May 11th. In 2017, the artist had already presented a pair of hands emerging from the Grand Canal to support one of the buildings, in order to raise public awareness about climate change and its consequences. The installation, 20 meters wide by 15 meters high, blends into the landscape of Venice, as one of its many bridges. The six pairs of hands presented this year are symbols of friendship, wisdom, help, faith, hope and love, to celebrate people who overcome their differences in order to build, together , a better world.
