During her travels on the islands of French Polynesia, where she has called home for the last nine years, Helene Havard photographed the inhabitants. Portraits that she wanted authentic and far from clichés, in places not really frequented by tourists. “When I photograph people, I try to make them lower their guard” she says. A way to give a natural and deeper result, to show the very essence of the subjects and to transmit the emotions they give off. Facing these photographs, we are tempted to imagine the story behind the piercing glances of these men, women, and children, whom we are here invited to discover.
