In his latest photo series «Forever Young», Franck Bohbot immerses us into a retro universe with pastel colors, worthy of a Wes Anderson movie. These cinematic aesthetics are not surprising considering the French photographer from Los Angeles is also a filmmaker.

“Forever Young” is a series shot during the summer 2018 inside and outside a Water Park in Seignosse south west of France. I Always wanted to make a series related to childhood, slide and holidays, I didn’t plan anything, I am there each year so this summer I decided to capture some moments of life and the feeling of youth. This is the continuity of my series “Jour de fêtes”

While the neat compositions freeze the bodies and suspend time, the color-editing evokes the charm of a bygone era. Two time frames thus coexist: the carefreeness of the present moment and the nostalgia of a past memory.

Unrecognizable faces make it easy to relate to the characters and to feel part of this sunny interlude in the midst of a youth that enjoys the summer. A reference to youth and time that reminds us of the french movie Mektoub My Love, story of a summer in the south of France.

One year ago, we shared his sublime photo series of a vintage vision of Los Angeles that you can find here.
