While the photo flashes of the 2019 Oscar ceremony still burn the stars’ retinas, Vanity Fair magazine publishes the photos taken by one of its collaborators: Mark Seliger. Far from the wild crowds, this photographer, who has been associated with the magazine for nearly twenty years, presents a series of photos with very “backstage” frames, almost intimate, at the bend of a staircase, a window or a corridor. The stars sometimes pose there nonchalantly, the Oscar at their fingertips, the gaze often lost far from the photographer’s lens and the spectator’s gaze, both deeply human in these rather unhyperatural postures, but as beautiful as marble statues under Mark Seliger’s sublime eye.
