Started in 2014, French artist Aude Bourgine‘s vibrant series «Poumons des Océans» [Oceans’ Lungs] highlights corals’ poetry through sparkling sculptures.

These works made with recycled materials (textiles, sequins, beads) wish to provoke «the feeling of wonder for nature which surrounds us and the desire to protect it».

Aware of our negative impact on the environment, the artist here declines the corals’ beauty, essential to the survival of the ocean ecosystem. This project is both stunning and relevant. Most of all, it reminds us that the art scene is trying to make the public more and more aware of our ecological responsibility.
