To help clean up the oceans, Volvo has installed a 3D printed marine habitat in Sydney harbour designed with 50 tiles that mimic mangrove trees’ roots. To conceive this project, the Swedish car’s manufacturer has collaborated with the Reef Design Lab and the Sydney Institute of Marine Sciences. The «Living Seawall» aims to help biodiversity survival by attracting filter-feeding organisms which will absorb and filter polluting particles (plastics, metals, etc.). Researchers will monitor the dike for twenty years to measure the increasing water quality.
