Carl Lavia is a self-taught artist whose work consists in drawing urban landscapes in pencil, such that from a distance the viewer has the feeling of looking at an old map in aerial view, but which closely resemble the impressionist sketches of drawings and etchings of the late 19th century. His major project #69cities, carried out in collaboration with Lorna Le Bredonchel, led him to draw the 69 cities of the United Kingdom in precise drawings, documented from street locations to the final exhibition, including all stages of the drawing, which can last up to four months for each drawing.
