Scott Reinhard is an American artist from the state of Indiana, known among other things for the flatness of its topography, but above all a passionate geologist. He therefore undertook work to remodel the 3D elevation as they existed in the past. Using the database of the United States Institute of Geology, he recreated places he had visited or would like to visit and reconstructed their geological map in 1945, 1875, as far back as the data available to him allow. There is therefore an almost imaginary dimension in the maps thus produced, which nevertheless correspond to the state of the soil as it has been, and retrace the geological history of emblematic places.
