Artists of Indian origin Nayan Shrimali and Vaishali Chudasama will have completed a series of 365 miniature paper birds by December 2018. Made entirely by hand, these fragile works require extreme patience and meticulousness. First cut one by one, the multiple elements that make up the bird are then coloured in watercolour and assembled. Hummingbirds, sparrows, storks, eagles, parakeets… This work is both an ode to nature, through the representation of 365 species of animals in paper, which is a biodegradable and recyclable material, but also a philosophical lesson: the time required to make this aviary, one year, does not protect the works from their destruction, to believe that their beauty lies in their fragility.
