Matthias Pliesnig is a talented cabinet maker and furniture designer based in Brooklyn. He was first interested in woodworking in the field of shipbuilding, and then decides to apply these techniques to create amazing furniture, assisted by a 3D modeling software.

He designed “Amada”, one of his benches, for a client who asked for a large “flowing” bench across the room. He achieves it through a technique where a strip of wood is placed in the steam, becoming malleable for thirty seconds, before returning to its initial hardness within eight hours. Between art, craft and design, the artist creates unique pieces with incredible shapes, combining both ancient techniques and contemporary forms.
