More than 100 years ago, the young Australian geologist Douglas Mawson embarked on the first expedition to Antarctica. This expedition is legendary for the resilience, physical endurance, loyalty and achievements of the crew. The purpose of this mission was to explore the Antarctic coast, to bring back geological data and to describe previously unknown terrestrial and marine species. Thanks to the photographer Frank Hurley who was part of the crew, we can immerse ourselves in this particular expedition.
