These photos were taken in 2016 by Canadian photographer Lara Orawski, who takes a close look at the effects of climate change and waste on landscapes. She captured here the drought through a few shots of the Salton Sea and its surroundings in Southern California, having been formerly a vast, magnificent lake. The waters have been evaporating, and salt is increasing for several decades now due to the accumulation of various pollutions. If these pictures reflect a deplorable reality, they remain captivating and immerse us in a strangely empty atmosphere, disturbing and aesthetic at the same time.
