Belarusian photographer Kate Smuraga, currently living in Warsaw, Poland, manages to capture landscapes and portraits that are both enigmatic and peaceful. Stunning emotions emanate from her models’ faces who seem to pose with a disconcerting naturalness. The landscapes she photographs, most often in her homeland of Belarus or in Russia, witness the empty, mysterious and cold spaces that are characteristic of the continental climate in Eastern Europe.

Themes of the transition to adulthood and identity emerge from her ethereal style, where she mixes fiction and autobiography together for a striking aesthetic result.
