Elegantly dressed for the church on a Sunday, a mother and her daughter are posing underneath a bright red neon sign reading COLORED ENTRANCE. The powerful photographies of the famous Gordon Parks are currently shown at the Foam Museum in Amsterdam. The I Am You exhibition presents 120 moving works from 1942 to 1978 telling the struggle of African Americans against racism, segregation and inequality. Through his lens, the photographer denounced the division prevailing in the society at the time of Malcolm X. Parks used to describe his camera as his « weapon of choice ».
