Latvian architecture studio Mailitis Architects designed this amphitheatre on the hillside of the sacred Mountain Song, in the Chinese province of Henan. Being of a major importance in Buddhist culture, the mountain was already home to the Shaolin Monastery. Equipped with a wind tunnel built by Aerodium, the amphitheatre designed for the monks’ aerial performances with a focus on levitation. The architecture of the theatre pays respects to its sacred surroundings by imitating a moutain with a tree.
