As part of the European Days of Crafts, Société Générale presents an exhibition #LaMêmePassion. Innovative and unusual, it has the peculiarity of being the first exhibition born from tweets. Interactive and masterful works will be presented from  March 31th  to  April 2sd in the emblematic Bastille Design Center, a former 19th century factory.

The meeting between a Best Worker of France and a young apprentice

Best Artisrier of France in 2011 in the category glassworks with torch, Adrian Colin shared his know-how with Laura Germain. This communication graduate dreams of one day having her glass workshop. Together they recreated sublime letters from the apprentice’s tweet.

After studying in Paris, it was finally in Dinan, where he came from, that Adrian decided to settle down. It was at the heart of his charming studio that he welcomed Laura to transform her tweet into a work of art, now called “Souffle créateur”.

The dialogue between the two enthusiasts is established and the heart of the discussion is of course the know-how and the mastery of the glass: “It is one of the rare materials that is transparent and plays a lot with light. It is seen as brittle, rigid, but when it is in fusion, it is all the reverse! ” “Says Adrian.

The glass seems almost magical. Melted with a torch with a flame reaching 1800 ° C, stretched and then bent, the letters appear and are then re-baked in a 560 °oven. A hundred hours were necessary in order to carry out such a work.

“Crystalline letters, finesse, transparency and fixed movements: everything evokes the beauty of the fragile and precious moment,” says the Master Glassmaker in a very poetic way. Between emotion and  mastery, it is certain that the succession is indeed present, and the transmission of this passion for the glass already taken care of by the younger generation.

To discover the work in real size and animated by a light source, go to the Bastille Design Center from March 31th to April 2th. From stained glass to chocolate, wood and sculpture, this exhibition 2.0 will reveal the excellence of these ancestral crafts that continue to live through the Millenials generation.
